An increasing number of resorts like St. Moritz or Obergurgl in the well-known Austrian and Swiss tourist areas, and quite particularly hotels, are discovering the magic of light and of creatively designed Christmas atmosphere as a lucrative investment that pays for itself in every respect.
For years, hotels have been delighted with the explicit positive feedback received from their guests on their enchanting Christmas decorations and light displays.
With today’s aspirations to create well-being, light has become an important feel-good factor – and if specific signatures or historic themes are transformed into light motifs, they generate powerful memories and emotions resulting in long-term customer retention.

5th November 2016 was the grand switch-on for the ‘Kissing Tree’ at Trinity Leeds, UK.
Measuring a colossal 60 feet (approximately 19 metres) tall, this was the biggest Christmas Kissing Tree in Europe.
The immense structure, which took some 10 weeks to manufacture and 4 days to install, illuminates over 25,000 light points when two people kiss beneath it, sending a wave of love up the tree and across the great glass ceiling of the shopping mall.
The technology behind the scheme is simple but very clever! When two people kiss their lips complete a circuit which activates the entire display.
Over the Christmas 2016 festive season over 200,000 people kissed beneath the tree; couples, family and friends. The project was a huge success and the UK team are very proud to have achieved something so magnificent for Trinity Leeds, a shopping centre in Land Securities’ portfolio
