MK Illumination is once more a leader in the industry thanks to another innovation from the company with headquarters in the Austrian Tyrol. It recently developed the first certified professional light chain system in the market with an IP-Rating of IP67. The latest product is now available on the world market.
On the one hand the IP67 means that the String Lite® is dust-tight, and on the other, that they are also waterproof up to one meter in depth for a minimum of 30 minutes. This has been made possible by a double gasket system. This means that the current standard gasket is supported by an additional laminar sealing ring. The new IP67-QuickFix® Connector series is color coded, which is also compatible with the previous connector system by means of adaptors. The String Lite® system is copyrighted.
Huma eleven, Vienna’s most modern shopping center at Simmering, comes alive on November 24, with the illumination of a spectacular 19.5 meter Christmas Comet crowned by what is probably Europe’s largest illuminated star, all glistening with 9,000 points of light. The center has a Christmas market, with Advent singing and childcare, and a magnificent 12-meter Christmas tree with 12,000 LEDs and 1,200 Christmas balls. The idea for the comet Christmas decoration came from huma eleven’s manager Stephan Kalteis: “We set standards in Austria in matters of design, as you can see by our huge fountain. So we also wanted to do something special with our Christmas decoration. What could be better than a dazzling comet in XXL format?” Another example of very special MK Illumination creative lighting and festive decoration!

The historical roots of ‘Leinenweberei’, the textile art from Ried im Innkreis, date back to the 18th century, and are the reason behind the Weberzeile shopping mall name. For the 2015 Christmas decorations, MK Illumination adopted this beautiful reference as the jewelry motif for illuminated design objects and created impressive handmade knitted covers for the glittering lights. The organic forms of our Arundo reeds from the original knitted fabrics of the region were adapted to the architecture of Weberzeile, and provided a completely harmonious atmosphere with its warm white light. The suitably festive decoration on the facade and over the entrance was part of MK Illumination’s totally integrated concept and transformed Weberzeile into an attractive destination point.
What was once the princely stables of the baroque castle of Ludwigsburg is now the Marstall Centre. Built on the former historical foundations and thanks to its masterful architectural language, the centre has a new identity as a luxury shopping centre.
MK Illumination’s festive Christmas lighting not only brought a brilliant touch to the tasteful interior design during the last Christmas season; it also endowed the centre with an additional facet – an invitation to its visitors to dream in an atmosphere of history and Christmas decoration.
Exclusive motifs from the baroque past reawakened a feeling of times gone by, and the royal lily blossomed both inside and outside on all levels of the Marstall Centre. This and other highlights of the MK design concept advanced the Ludwigsburg landmark to the ranks of a hugely popular focal point for selfies, photographs, and other souvenirs.
Boeuf Rouge calls itself a pretty unique steakhouse. Just a few kilometres outside of Montreal, it practices the principle of bring-your-own-wine while offering a very cosy atmosphere. To visually support the unique branding of Rouge Boeuf, we staged a Christmas dream in red with our LED string lites within the restaurant windows – budgeted accordingly, this simple and effective lighting concept not only supported the cosy atmosphere inside the restaurant, but also communicated a welcome invitation to the outside from afar. Bon appetit!
