World Innovation: The new professional light chain system with IP67 protection class

MK Illumination is once more a leader in the industry thanks to another innovation from the company with headquarters in the Austrian Tyrol. It recently developed the first certified professional light chain system in the market with an IP-Rating of IP67. The latest product is now available on the world market.

On the one hand the IP67 means that the String Lite® is dust-tight, and on the other, that they are also waterproof up to one meter in depth for a minimum of 30 minutes. This has been made possible by a double gasket system. This means that the current standard gasket is supported by an additional laminar sealing ring. The new IP67-QuickFix®  Connector series is color coded, which is also compatible with the previous connector system by means of adaptors. The String Lite® system is copyrighted.

Interactive Christmas Amusement in Copenhagen’s Fisketorvet Shopping Centre

For years, MK Illumination has drenched Copenhagen’s Fisketorvet Shopping Centre in festive light. For the past holiday season, the light installations were not only redesigned, but also enhanced with a sympathetic interactive element. A photo point for visitors’ selfies was installed in front of a handcrafted gold-starred Christmas tree. Using the special hashtag, these images were projected automatically on a corresponding screen, thereby becoming part of a competition awarding the most beautiful and most amusing photo creations of the week with cinema tickets.

The photos could also be printed out directly on site using an Instagram printer and taken home as a souvenir. Running parallel to this, the Fisketorvet shopping paradise offered an interactive charity initiative for “Save the Child”. Each customer donation caused a flash of blue lights on the tree and the gift was topped up by the shopping centre with €5 – turning charitable giving into an interactive party game!

3D-Stars for Mahon Point

For the Christmas season, bright stars – oversized and in 3D – granted all their radiant power to Mahon Point, the biggest luxury shopping mall in Cork, Ireland.  Long famous, Mahon Point caters to an average 110,000 visitors per week throughout the year.

The 340,000 square meters of high quality shopping space was used to stage a true Christmas experience. The oldest symbol of peace, light and prominence – the star – shone here with gold foil light in various, customized 3D fibreglass varieties, and provided a unique atmosphere in Mahon Point.

In cooperation with ‘Creation Group’, a detailed Santa Claus residence was installed in classic New England style, which ably offered animated characters as well as all kinds of music and dance events for a generously sized audience. ‘Family Fun for Free’ – was the happy Christmas message.

It is also time to celebrate with loved ones, and to turn thoughts to festive decorations. MK Illumination wishes you a Happy Easter.

MK Illuminations Presents Christmas in Antwerp: Simply ‘A-Typical’

As advent continues and Christmas Eve approaches, the city of Antwerp is putting on a glittering show spreading the joy of the holiday season. Major landmarks have been given a spectacular makeover worthy of this city well known for its international diamond trade – everything from the story, audio composition and first voiceover, to the final concepts of the complex lighting scenarios, has been fashioned exclusively by MK Illumination.

This year the city hall, located on the western side of Antwerp’s Grote Markt (Great Market), is 450 years old.  To celebrate this anniversary, a new marketing campaign, A-Typisch (A-Typical), has been organized, and the city, under the guidance of MK Illumination, is putting its best, and unique, foot forward. The city hall is decorated with huge diamonds, and the tower of the Onze Lieve Vrouwekathedraal  (Cathedral of Our Lady) is aglow with a myriad of lights.  Standing 123m high, with 620 steps to the summit, this is the highest building in the whole of Belgium, that has ever been decorated like this.

Ice Skating, often depicted in paintings of the region, has been a beloved feature of winter festivities for centuries.  This season, Antwerp’s citizens and visitors are invited to skate under a sky of lights covering Groenplaats, and around the statue of the illustrious painter Peter Paul Rubens, Antwerp’s favorite son.  For Steenplein, MK Illumination magically transformed one of Antwerp’s oldest buildings, Het Steen (The Castle), into a seemingly frozen block of ice surrounded by trees with branches lovingly highlighted by tiny lights.

With such unique storytelling from MK Illumination, every night is a sparkling opportunity for Antwerp to show just how different and simply ‘A-Typisch’ it is.
