Reaching the end of the year, we all almost automatically take a quiet look back. Likewise, we are now putting together a number of our most beautiful lighting projects and light displays for you. A gallery of MK Illumination activities all over the world – large and small creations our team thorougly enjoyed as they inspired their imagination and presented new challenges. Lighting designs that provided people around the globe with some happy moments throughout the day.
Finland can be bleak in the winter, and Christmas lights were until now relatively unknown in the Finnish capital until last year. So it was a great challenge to our MK team in Finland to illuminate the famous Esplanadi park, and its adjacent main streets. Inspiration and theme: the Christmas forest, and its fabled four-legged inhabitants, the reindeer. For the project a whole family of original Finnish larger-than-life reindeer were designed and fabricated in MK Illumination’s own factory. Even the lighting decorations on the streetlights and tree branches were reminiscent of the horns of these legendary Christmas animals – the entire staging a delightful combination of warm gold and brilliant white light. Little wonder that the people of Helsinki eagerly photographed its Christmas miracle and documented it well online.
At Christmas time, the Hungarian capital will be lit up again by MK Illumination with the glitter and sparkle of thousands of white, red and golden stars, flowers and balls.
Decorative MK lighting effects will be used around Oktogon and Opéra, over four hundred different candelabra ornaments combined with floral and figurative MK motifs such as ‘Angel in Love’, ‘Violin’ or ‘Nordic Wind’, transforms Varoshàza Park and its surrounding main streets and squares into an impressive illuminated experience, and in Andrássy Street, 173 trees will be decorated with around two hundred thousand warm shimmering LED light points alongside our ‘ice drops’ effect light features. The spectacular winter and Christmas ornaments will be set to enchant the residents of Budapest as well as their countless guests for another four years.

Year after year, a special initiative gives the popular ‘Rävala Park’ in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, the most atmospheric Christmas sparkle. The city’s businesses are invited to decorate a tree in the Park at their own expense, or rather to implement MK Illuminations’ creative ideas for attractive Christmas lights throughout. After a festively decorated opening ceremony led by the mayor, ‘Rävala’ was once again Advent’s ever-popular excursion destination. Steadily, new companies, along with their decorated trees are being added, and in this way, Tallinn’s pleasure park grows as an ever brighter shining symbol of a beautiful community initiative.
